King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Visit Aqaba School to Mark World Teachers’ Day

Amman, The Gulf Observer: King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan visited the Aisha bint Abu Bakr Mixed Primary School in Aqaba on Sunday to mark World Teachers’ Day, which is observed on October 5.
During the visit, Their Majesties met with a number of teachers and congratulated them on the occasion, while emphasising the vital role educators play in shaping students’ character, building knowledge and advancing the educational process, according to a statement issued by the Royal Court.
The King and Queen toured the school’s facilities and were briefed on professional development programmes for teachers being implemented by the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development in cooperation with the Queen Rania Teacher Academy at public schools across Jordan.
Their Majesties also attended part of training sessions under the Teacher Education Professional Diploma and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Education programme.
They additionally observed a kindergarten class conducted by educators who had completed a professional development programme for public-school kindergarten teachers.
King Abdullah and Queen Rania spoke with several teachers about their experiences with the training programmes and the positive impact the professional development had made on their teaching methods and classroom environments.
King Abdullah stressed that continuous professional development for teachers should contribute to raising the overall quality of education in Jordan.
Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Minister of Education and Human Resource Development Azmi Mahafzah, and Chief Executive Officer of the Queen Rania Teacher Academy Abdelmajeed Shamlawi accompanied Their Majesties during the visit.
