2024 FOCAC Summit Hailed as Complete Success, Boosts China-Africa Ties
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced the resounding success of the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), further strengthening the strategic partnership between China and Africa. Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, made the statement during a press briefing alongside Senegalese Foreign Minister Yacine Fall and Republic of the Congo Foreign Minister Jean-Claude Gakosso.
In his remarks, Wang highlighted the summit’s major outcomes, emphasizing that China’s diplomatic ties with all African countries have been elevated to the level of strategic relations. He further characterized China-Africa relations as an “all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era,” reflecting the deepening ties and mutual commitment.
Wang outlined six major proposals designed to drive China-Africa modernization efforts, underscoring the blueprint for action mapped out to advance bilateral cooperation. Chinese President Xi Jinping also announced 10 partnership actions aimed at deepening China-Africa cooperation over the next three years, with a focus on modernization and development.
“China and Africa have agreed to firmly support each other on issues concerning their core interests, practice true multilateralism, and work to address historical injustices,” Wang stated. He also emphasized that the summit demonstrated the Global South’s strong confidence in solidarity and cooperation, furthering the collective aim of achieving modernization that benefits all people.
African leaders, including Fall and Gakosso, praised the summit’s success, stating that China-Africa cooperation has significantly transformed the continent. They expressed Africa’s readiness to work closely with China to implement the summit’s outcomes, deepen their longstanding friendship, and achieve shared development and prosperity.
