Japanese PM Expresses Anticipation for Meeting Turkmen President at World Expo 2025
Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has conveyed his eagerness to meet with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the upcoming World Expo 2025 in Osaka, according to Turkmenistan’s official media on Wednesday. In a letter addressed to Berdimuhamedov, Ishiba expressed his appreciation for Turkmenistan’s congratulatory message following his recent appointment, underscoring Turkmenistan’s role as a strategic partner in advancing a free and open international order rooted in the rule of law.
Highlighting the deepening cooperation between Japan and Turkmenistan, Ishiba noted the significant progress in bilateral ties across economic, scientific, and cultural spheres. He reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to strengthening these relations, referencing the postponed summit initially scheduled for August, which was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances.
“To further strengthen ties between Japan and Turkmenistan, I look forward to engaging actively with Your Excellency through the ‘Central Asia + Japan’ Dialogue, which marks its 20th anniversary this year,” Ishiba stated, signaling Japan’s interest in fostering regional collaboration.
The Prime Minister also extended his gratitude to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan’s National Leader and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, for his warm congratulatory message on Ishiba’s appointment. This exchange reflects the ongoing mutual respect and commitment to expanding diplomatic and strategic ties between Japan and Turkmenistan.
