Manila, The Gulf Observer: The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) will officially launch the second phase of its disaster preparedness campaign — “Panatag Pilipinas Launch 2.0: From Online to Onscreen” — on July 1, in observance of National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM).

This enhanced risk-communication advocacy seeks to broaden public awareness on disaster readiness by transitioning from purely online engagement to visible on-screen messaging in malls and cinemas nationwide, the OCD announced in a statement released Friday.

The launch aligns with this year’s NDRM theme: “KUMIKILOS para sa Kahandaan, Kaligtasan, at Katatagan”, emphasizing the proactive role of every Filipino in strengthening preparedness, safety, and resilience across all levels of society.

The core message, “Alam ng Pinoy ang Dapat Gawin Para Maging Ligtas sa Panahon ng Sakuna,” underscores the collective responsibility of citizens in achieving a disaster-resilient Philippines.

Originally conceptualized as a digital campaign, Panatag Pilipinas now enters its second and expanded phase through public screen displays, further amplifying its life-saving message in everyday spaces. The new phase is made possible through a major partnership between the OCD, the World Bank, and Ayala Foundation, Inc., marking a significant milestone in extending the campaign’s national reach.

The official launch event will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Activity Center of Ayala Malls Circuit, Makati City, and will be graced by Defense Secretary Giilberto Teodoro Jr., who also serves as Chairperson of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

With this initiative, the OCD continues to promote a culture of preparedness and community-based resilience — reinforcing that every Filipino has a role in safeguarding lives and livelihoods in times of disaster.
