Indonesia Upholds Friendly Foreign Policy Amid Global Tensions, Condemns Attacks on Sovereignty

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia continues to pursue a friendly and principled foreign policy despite growing geopolitical tensions worldwide, affirmed Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono during a parliamentary meeting held on Monday in Jakarta.
The minister reiterated that Indonesia maintains a cordial political stance toward all nations—both neighboring and distant—while firmly adhering to constitutional values that oppose any form of colonization.
“Indonesia, as mandated by its Constitution, condemns colonization in all its forms and is committed to playing an active role in realizing global peace,” Minister Sugiono stated.
He emphasized that Indonesia’s diplomatic efforts are rooted in a commitment to be part of broad-based international collaboration, underscoring the government’s responsibility to uphold the welfare and dignity of its citizens.
“As a nation with a global responsibility, we aim to contribute meaningfully to international peace and cooperation,” he said.
In his address, Minister Sugiono strongly condemned any form of aggression against national sovereignty, specifically citing Israel’s recent strike on Iran’s nuclear facility. He warned that such actions pose significant threats to human life and the environment.
“Nuclear facilities must never be targeted, given the catastrophic risks involved for both people and nature,” he asserted.
The minister also expressed concern over Israel’s continued violations of international norms, stating that the absence of accountability could embolden other states or non-state actors to act similarly.
“Geopolitical tensions have shifted the focus of many countries from cooperation to mere survival. If left unaddressed, the Middle East conflict could spill over into other regions, including the Indo-Pacific,” Sugiono cautioned.
He concluded by reaffirming Indonesia’s unwavering commitment to peaceful diplomacy, urging the international community to act collectively to prevent further escalation and safeguard global stability.
