Iran Confirms Successful Deployment and Operation of Nahid-2 Satellite

Nahid-2 Satellite

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: The Iranian Space Agency (I.S.A.) confirmed on Friday that it has received the first telemetry signals from the newly launched Nahid-2 satellite, indicating that the satellite is intact and functioning properly in orbit.

The Nahid-2, developed jointly by the Iranian Space Research Institute and the I.S.A., was launched into Low Earth Orbit earlier in the day aboard a Soyuz launch vehicle from Russia’s Vostochny Cosmodrome.

Hassan Salarieh, head of the Iranian Space Agency, stated that the successful deployment of Nahid-2 marks a significant advancement in Iran’s space capabilities. He also noted that construction of the next-generation Nahid-3 satellite is already underway.

Nahid-2 is an upgraded version of the earlier Nahid-1 and was developed with contributions from several Iranian knowledge-based companies. The microsatellite weighs approximately 110 kilograms and is designed to operate at an altitude of 500 kilometers.

The satellite will allow for the in-orbit testing of Iran’s indigenous Ku-band communication technologies for the first time. The development is part of Iran’s broader strategy to expand its presence in space through the deployment of both LEO communications constellations and future Geosynchronous Orbit (GEO) telecommunications systems.

Iran has been engaged in space technology development since 2005 and views such achievements as critical components of its scientific and technological progress.
