Terrorist Attack Foiled in Zahedan, Six Killed and 22 Injured

Zahedan, The Gulf Observer: Iranian security forces thwarted a terrorist attack targeting the provincial judiciary department in Zahedan, the capital of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, on Saturday morning. The attack, linked to a group with alleged ties to Israel, left at least six civilians dead and 22 others injured, according to official sources.
Deputy Law Enforcement Commander of the province, Alireza Daliri, told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that members of the terrorist team had disguised themselves as clients and attempted to infiltrate the judiciary building. Security personnel quickly identified the threat and engaged the attackers in a firefight, resulting in the neutralization of all three assailants.
Daliri stated that two of the attackers were killed while attempting to escape on a nearby street, and the third was eliminated before he could detonate a grenade. He confirmed that the explosion led to the deaths of several civilians, including a mother and her one-year-old child.
In a separate statement, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in Zahedan confirmed the fatalities and reported that 22 individuals were wounded in the attack, most of them ordinary citizens.
Iran’s Judiciary also issued a statement earlier in the day confirming the incident and detailing the emergency response. It said that multiple individuals were injured in the clashes and that emergency personnel were promptly deployed to the scene.
Several of the wounded were evacuated from the judiciary premises by rescue teams and transported to nearby medical centers for treatment. Meanwhile, clients and judiciary staff were safely escorted out of the area by law enforcement officials. Enhanced security measures have since been implemented around the courthouse.
The incident underscores ongoing security challenges in Sistan and Baluchestan, a restive province that has witnessed similar acts of violence in the past. Authorities have launched a full investigation into the attack and are working to identify any possible accomplices or broader networks involved.
