Qatar Amir to participate in state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II
Doha, The Gulf Observer: The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani left Doha on Saturday morning, heading to the British capital, London to participate in the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
Queen Elizabeth’s funeral on Monday will be attended by around 500 guests representing nearly 200 countries and territories, a British foreign office source said on Friday.
Nearly 100 presidents and heads of government and over 20 royals will attend, the source said.
The guests also include the Crown Prince of Bahrain, and the Sultan of Oman. The Saudi royal family will also be represented, the source said.
London’s police force said the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth will be the biggest security operation it has ever undertaken as prime ministers, presidents and royals come together on Monday to pay their respects to Britain’s longest-reigning monarch.
