Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: At the invitation of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China visited the United Arab Emirates on 12th and 13th December.

During the visit, the two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on bilateral relations, regional developments, and issues of mutual interest. Both diplomats highlighted the positive progress of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the UAE and China, noting that it reflects the aspirations of their leaders and peoples for growth and prosperity.

The officials agreed to implement the understandings reached during President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit to China in May 2024, aimed at elevating bilateral cooperation across all levels. The Chinese side expressed firm support for the UAE’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, while the UAE reaffirmed its commitment to the One China principle, supporting national unification and opposing external interference.

Both sides also discussed regional issues, including the peaceful resolution of disputes over the Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa islands, and renewed their commitment to advancing a two-state solution for Palestine, emphasizing the need for an independent and sovereign Palestinian state alongside Israel based on the 1967 borders.

The visit included discussions on expanding cooperation in key sectors such as economy, trade, investment, energy, renewable resources, infrastructure, technology, research, and science. Both sides emphasized strengthening collaboration in military affairs, law enforcement, counter-terrorism, tourism, civil aviation, and education, including Chinese language learning.

The UAE expressed support for China’s hosting of the second China–Arab States Summit in 2026 and the GCC-China Summit for Cooperation and Development, while China reaffirmed its readiness to accelerate negotiations on a China–GCC free trade agreement.

The two countries also underlined the importance of international cooperation through platforms such as the United Nations, BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, working jointly to promote global peace, stability, and sustainable development.

The visit further highlighted the alignment of China’s Belt and Road Initiative with the UAE’s national strategies, “We the UAE 2031” and “Projects of the 50,” with both sides expressing readiness to deepen strategic cooperation to achieve shared prosperity.

This high-level visit marks another milestone in strengthening the UAE-China partnership, reinforcing mutual trust, shared goals, and a commitment to peace and development at regional and global levels.
