President Ilham Aliyev Congratulates Sabah on Historic UEFA Champions League Qualification
Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has congratulated Sabah Football Club on securing qualification for the main stage of the UEFA Champions League, describing the achievement as a source of pride for the country.
In a message shared on his official X account, President Aliyev praised the club for its “splendid victory” and qualification for the main stage of Europe’s premier club competition.
The Azerbaijani president highlighted the rapid progress of Sabah, noting that the newly established club had achieved significant success within a relatively short period. He also said the continued qualification of Azerbaijani clubs for the main stage of the Champions League for a second consecutive year demonstrated the country’s progress in sport and reflected Azerbaijan’s growing standing as a sporting nation.
President Aliyev wished Sabah further victories and success in its upcoming Champions League matches.
Sabah’s qualification marks a significant milestone for Azerbaijani football and adds to the country’s growing presence in European club competitions. The achievement follows the club’s emphatic 5–2 victory over Hapoel Be’er Sheva in the Champions League play-off round.
