President Ilham Aliyev Inaugurates International Aviation Training Center in Baku

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva on April 8 attended the opening ceremony of the International Training Center at the National Aviation Academy of Azerbaijan, marking a significant step toward advancing aviation training standards in the region.
During the visit, Rector Academician Arif Pashayev, Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev, and Chairman of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC Samir Rzayev briefed the head of state on the center’s facilities and operations.
The International Training Center, established on the initiative of Azerbaijan Airlines, is designed to provide advanced training for flight crews in emergency situations, as well as comprehensive theoretical and practical instruction for air traffic control dispatchers.
Officials noted that the center will train dispatchers from the “Azeraeronavigation” Air Traffic Control Department in line with international standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency. Training programs will also incorporate methodologies from the German Air Navigation Services Academy (DFS), one of the world’s leading institutions in the field.
The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art simulators, including a tower simulator offering a 360-degree panoramic view of Heydar Aliyev International Airport and a radar simulation system for airspace management, enabling training in highly realistic operational environments.
Additionally, the center features advanced simulators for airport vehicle operations and a next-generation A320/A321 NEO CEET aircraft cabin simulator developed by Turkish company SkyArt. The equipment includes door trainers for Boeing 787 aircraft and Real Fire Fighting Trainers (RFFT) to replicate emergency scenarios.
The center is expected to train approximately 30 air traffic controllers and up to 3,000 flight crew members annually, significantly enhancing the capacity and quality of aviation personnel training in Azerbaijan.
Officials подчеркнули that the new facility will play a vital role in strengthening aviation safety, aligning training practices with international standards, and developing a competitive and highly skilled workforce in the aviation sector.
