EUReflect Joins Nauryz Celebrations in Brussels

Brussels, The Gulf Observer: EUReflect participated in the vibrant celebration of Nauryz, organised under the framework of Shanyraq Fest Brussels at the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Brussels, reaffirming its commitment to fostering intercultural dialogue and international cooperation.
The event served as more than a festive gathering, emerging as a significant platform for diplomatic engagement and cultural exchange. It brought together representatives from diverse diplomatic, cultural, and institutional backgrounds, highlighting the growing role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening mutual understanding between Central Asia and Europe.
Nauryz, one of the most important traditional holidays across Central Asia, symbolises the arrival of spring, renewal, harmony, and community solidarity. Deeply rooted in centuries-old traditions, the celebration reflects values of hospitality, reconciliation, and collective well-being. For attendees in Brussels, the event offered a unique opportunity to experience Kazakh cultural heritage and gain insight into the broader civilisational richness of the region.
The programme featured a carefully curated selection of traditional and contemporary elements. Folk games such as Asyk Atu and Togyz Qumalaq provided a glimpse into the intellectual and recreational traditions of nomadic society, while a distinguished musical performance by artists of the Astana Philharmonic showcased Kazakhstan’s evolving cultural landscape. Guests were also treated to authentic national cuisine, underscoring the importance of culinary traditions in cultural identity.
The celebration was attended by prominent diplomatic figures, including Luc Devigne, alongside representatives from the embassies of Uzbekistan and Mongolia. Their presence underscored the unifying nature of Nauryz as a regional celebration that transcends national boundaries and reinforces shared cultural ties across Eurasia.
EUReflect emphasised that its participation aligns with its broader mission to support initiatives that promote dialogue, preserve cultural heritage, and strengthen people-to-people connections. The organisation reaffirmed its dedication to advancing intercultural exchange and contributing to a more inclusive and cooperative global environment.
