Turkmen Delegation Attends Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Inauguration

Kampala, The Gulf Observer: A delegation from Turkmenistan led by Chairman of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan Ata Serdarov visited Uganda from May 10 to 15 to attend the inauguration ceremony of re-elected Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and to hold discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, where President Museveni officially assumed office following his re-election.

Following the ceremony, the Turkmen delegation was received by President Museveni at the State House in Entebbe.

During the meeting, Ata Serdarov conveyed sincere greetings and congratulations to President Museveni on behalf of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov as well as the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

A letter of gratitude from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was also presented in appreciation of the invitation extended to Turkmenistan to attend the inauguration ceremony. The message additionally conveyed best wishes to the people of Uganda.

President Museveni expressed appreciation to the leadership and people of Turkmenistan on behalf of himself and the Ugandan nation.

During the talks, both sides highlighted the significant potential for further strengthening friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between Turkmenistan and Uganda.

As part of the visit, Ata Serdarov also held a meeting with Richard Todwong, Secretary-General of Uganda’s ruling party.

The Turkmen side briefed Ugandan officials on the activities and objectives of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan, including its role in promoting national unity, patriotism among youth, and preservation of national traditions and values.

Both parties expressed readiness to establish inter-party and inter-parliamentary relations between Turkmenistan and Uganda and agreed on the importance of exchanging experience in political and legislative fields.

The Turkmen delegation also held discussions at Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the departmental level, where opportunities for expanding political, diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation were explored.

The sides exchanged views regarding planned political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries and discussed prospects for organizing joint business forums and cultural events.

In addition, the delegation met with Uganda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of International Cooperation Henry Oriem Okello, during which both sides reviewed various aspects of bilateral cooperation and future engagement.
