Saudi Arabia Announces Arafat Day on May 26, Eid Al-Adha on May 27

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court announced on Sunday that the Day of Arafat, marking the peak of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, will fall on Tuesday, Dhul Hijjah 9, corresponding to May 26, while Eid Al-Adha will begin on Wednesday, May 27.

According to a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency, Monday, May 18, marks the first day of Dhul Hijjah following the confirmed sighting of the crescent moon in the Kingdom.

The court stated that its Crescent Sighting Department reached the decision after a session held on Sunday evening, during which testimonies from multiple witnesses regarding the moon sighting were reviewed.

The Supreme Court also prayed for blessings upon the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, appreciating their services to pilgrims and guests of the Holy Mosques.

It further prayed for the safe and comfortable performance of Hajj rituals by pilgrims and called for the continued security, stability, and prosperity of Saudi Arabia and its leadership.
