World Trade Organization and Turkmenistan Discuss WTO Accession Process in Ashgabat

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Rashid Meredov held talks with Maika Oshikawa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on May 19 to discuss ongoing cooperation between Turkmenistan and the World Trade Organization, with particular focus on the country’s accession process to the global trade body.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed current issues related to bilateral cooperation and discussed further steps concerning Turkmenistan’s accession to the WTO.

The discussions also covered regional and international trade and economic cooperation, efforts to improve Turkmenistan’s national regulatory and legal framework, and collaboration with international organizations and relevant institutions.

The participants highlighted the consistent nature of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the WTO, underlining the importance of continued engagement in advancing the accession process.

As part of Maika Oshikawa’s visit to Ashgabat, a separate meeting is scheduled with representatives of the Government Commission on Studying Issues related to Turkmenistan’s accession to the WTO.
