Turkmenistan, United States Discuss Expanding Educational Cooperation and Digital Learning Initiatives

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: The Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting between Deputy Minister of Education Azat Ataev and a United States delegation led by Sarah Rogers to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in the education sector.
According to the ministry, the talks focused on expanding collaboration under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two countries in 2023 and the implementation of a joint cooperation roadmap.
During the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of advancing joint academic initiatives, including the development of master’s degree programs, MBA courses, double-degree programs, curriculum harmonization and measures aimed at enhancing the professional qualifications of teaching staff.
The U.S. delegation proposed increasing the number of opportunities available to Turkmen participants in educational exchange programs and expanding engagement with graduates of U.S.-supported academic initiatives.
Discussions also covered the promotion of digital learning through broader access to leading U.S. online educational platforms. The two sides explored opportunities to introduce international standards for knowledge assessment, as well as advanced testing and certification methods in the field of information technology.
Particular attention was given to modernizing educational systems through innovation and technology, reflecting the growing importance of digital transformation in higher education.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants reviewed the possibility of updating the existing bilateral cooperation roadmap. The revised document is expected to place greater emphasis on the development of digital education ecosystems, the integration of artificial intelligence technologies into education, international accreditation of higher education institutions and the implementation of new joint university projects.
The discussions highlighted the shared commitment of Turkmenistan and the United States to expanding educational cooperation and fostering academic exchanges that support innovation, professional development and international standards in higher education.
