The award was presented during a ceremony held in Tashkent on June 26 to mark Press and Mass Media Workers’ Day, where outstanding media professionals from Uzbekistan and abroad were recognised for excellence in journalism.

Muhammad Abbas Khan received the prestigious honour in recognition of his longstanding commitment to providing objective and comprehensive coverage of Uzbekistan’s democratic, political, economic, and social reforms to audiences in Pakistan. His extensive reporting has highlighted the country’s development initiatives, international diplomacy, regional cooperation efforts, and sustainable development agenda, while contributing to stronger understanding and closer ties between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

Over the years, Khan has authored numerous analytical articles, interviews, and reports focusing on Uzbekistan’s political landscape, investment opportunities, trade relations, infrastructure projects, tourism, cultural cooperation, and regional security. His work has played a significant role in presenting Uzbekistan’s reform agenda and pragmatic foreign policy to the international community.

A notable milestone in his journalistic career came in 2025 with the publication of his Urdu-language book, “Uzbekistan: The Third Renaissance Concept of the Future.” The book offers a comprehensive analysis of the reforms undertaken under the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan, highlighting a vision centred on science, education, innovation, and human capital development.

The publication gained additional prominence through a foreword written by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and was officially launched in both Islamabad and Tashkent during high-level ceremonies attended by senior government officials, diplomats, scholars, media representatives, and members of civil society. The book received widespread appreciation for enhancing public understanding of Uzbekistan’s transformation and development strategy.

Congratulating Muhammad Abbas Khan on receiving the distinguished award, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan described the recognition as a testament to his years of professional excellence and valuable contribution to objective journalism. The embassy expressed confidence that his work would continue to strengthen friendship, mutual understanding, and media cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
