Pakistan, Cuba Exchange Views on UN Cooperation and Regional Stability

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Pakistan and Cuba reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation on multilateral issues during a meeting between Cuban Ambassador Damián Cordero and Dr. Ali Waqas Mali, Director I of the United Nations Division at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting featured a cordial and constructive exchange on matters of mutual interest concerning cooperation within international organizations and the broader multilateral framework.
During the discussions, Dr. Ali Waqas Mali acknowledged Cuba’s active and dedicated role in multilateral institutions, appreciating Havana’s sustained engagement on international issues.
Ambassador Damián Cordero, in turn, commended Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and constructive mediation in support of regional peace, recognizing Islamabad’s role in promoting dialogue and stability.
The Cuban envoy also expressed gratitude to Pakistan for supporting Cuba’s resolution at the United Nations calling for an end to the United States embargo against the Caribbean nation, describing Pakistan’s vote as a valuable demonstration of solidarity.
The meeting further provided an opportunity for Ambassador Cordero to brief the Pakistani side on the challenges facing the Cuban people, particularly the country’s energy constraints, which he attributed to the continued tightening of the US embargo and the expansion of unilateral coercive measures.
Both sides reaffirmed the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation in international forums while expressing their commitment to enhancing bilateral understanding on issues of shared interest.
