Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov during the minister’s official visit to Turkmenistan, reaffirming the two countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors.

According to Turkmen state media, Jabbarov thanked President Berdimuhamedov for the warm welcome extended to the Azerbaijani delegation and conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

The Azerbaijani minister emphasized that regular high-level dialogue has played a pivotal role in advancing bilateral relations and noted that President Berdimuhamedov’s recent state visit to Azerbaijan had opened a new chapter in cooperation between the two friendly nations.

President Berdimuhamedov asked Jabbarov to convey his sincere greetings to President Aliyev and expressed confidence that the minister’s visit would further expand trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.

He also highlighted the importance of the forthcoming meeting of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, saying it would facilitate the implementation of agreements reached during previous high-level engagements.

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to broadening its multifaceted partnership with Azerbaijan. They noted that political dialogue continues to deepen, trade and economic relations are expanding steadily, and several major joint projects are being implemented successfully.

The discussions also focused on enhancing cooperation in key sectors, including trade, logistics, energy, science and technology, as well as the development of international transport and transit corridors linking the region.

Both sides underscored the significance of the upcoming Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, which Turkmenistan is scheduled to host later this year. They described the forum as an important platform for promoting regional dialogue, strengthening economic cooperation, and advancing mutually beneficial partnerships.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov expressed confidence that the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan would continue to expand across diverse fields, while exchanging best wishes for the continued peace, progress, and prosperity of both countries.
