Kazakhstan Emerges as Tajikistan’s Third-Largest Trading Partner as Bilateral Trade Reaches $770 Million
Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Trade between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan increased 1.4 times during the first half of 2026, reaching US$770 million, positioning Kazakhstan as Tajikistan’s third-largest trading partner, according to official statistics cited by media reports.
Data released by Tajikistan’s Agency on Statistics showed that the country’s total foreign trade turnover amounted to US$6.82 billion between January and June 2026, reflecting a 44.2 percent increase compared to the corresponding period last year.
During the first six months of 2026, Tajikistan conducted trade with 124 countries, including 10 member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), underscoring the country’s expanding international trade network.
China retained its position as Tajikistan’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade increasing 1.5 times to US$1.78 billion during the reporting period.
Russia ranked second among Tajikistan’s key trading partners, with total bilateral trade reaching approximately US$1.32 billion.
Kazakhstan secured third place, with two-way trade totaling US$770 million, representing a 1.4-fold increase compared to the same period last year.
According to the Agency on Statistics, Tajikistan exported goods worth US$57.2 million to Kazakhstan during the first half of 2026, while imports from Kazakhstan exceeded US$712.9 million, highlighting the strong and growing economic partnership between the two neighboring countries.
