Aliyev, Pezeshkian Hold Talks on Bilateral Relations, Regional Developments

Bishkek, The Gulf Observer: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, and discussed prospects for strengthening bilateral relations.

President Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan’s support during the difficult situation faced by Iran, particularly President Ilham Aliyev’s position, condolences and humanitarian assistance extended to the Iranian people.

Recalling his meetings and telephone conversations with President Aliyev, the Iranian president said the Azerbaijani support had been highly valued by the Iranian state and people and reiterated his gratitude.

Pezeshkian highlighted the significant potential for expanding cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan and said Tehran was interested in developing relations with Baku across various fields.

Describing relations between the two countries as brotherly and friendly, the Iranian president reaffirmed Iran’s intention to maintain constructive relations with all its neighboring countries.

President Aliyev, in turn, said Azerbaijan’s assistance to Iran during its difficult circumstances was an expression of brotherhood between the two countries.

He reiterated Azerbaijan’s position that the situation concerning Iran should be resolved through peaceful means and negotiations.

During the meeting, the two presidents also exchanged views on prospects for further cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran in various areas and discussed matters of mutual interest.
