Algeria, US Discuss Bilateral Ties, Regional Developments on UNGA Sidelines

New York, The Gulf Observer: Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad and African Affairs Ahmed Attaf held talks with Musaed Boulos, Senior Advisor to the US President for Arab and African Affairs, on the sidelines of his participation in the high-level working group of the 83rd session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The two officials reviewed the current state of Algeria-US bilateral relations, noting positive developments and discussing ways to further expand cooperation, particularly in the fields of energy, economy and trade.

The meeting also covered a range of international and regional issues of mutual interest, with particular attention to developments in Libya, Sudan and the Gulf region.

Both sides underscored the importance of continued efforts to contribute to solutions to the crises affecting the region and promote stability.

The officials also discussed developments concerning the Western Sahara issue and agreed to maintain consultations and coordination on the matter.
