President of Turkmenistan receives Uzbek Foreign Minister
Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Uzbekistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov in Ashgabat on Wednesday, the official Turkmen media reported.
At the beginning of the meeting, Bakhtiyor Saidov conveyed to the Turkmen President and the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov greetings from President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who addressed his wishes for the well-being and prosperity of the Turkmen people.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed reciprocal warm greetings and best wishes to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, stressing that Turkmenistan is also invariably committed to good neighborly relations with Uzbekistan, which have centuries-old history.
The sides agreed that the bilateral consultations along foreign policy lines scheduled during the Uzbek Foreign Minister’s current visit to Ashgabat would be a good opportunity to exchange views on priority areas of interstate dialogue, aspects of the regional and international agenda, and would also serve to strengthen the fruitful cooperation across its spectrum.
Moreover, the parties emphasized the strategic nature of the Turkmen-Uzbek partnership, which has recently reached a qualitatively new stage of development.
According to the report, the trade and economic sphere holds a special place in the multifaceted Turkmen-Uzbek partnership. In this regard, the parties noted the positive dynamics of bilateral trade turnover, cooperation in the fuel and energy, transportation and logistics, agriculture, and other sectors.
At the end of the meeting, President Berdimuhamedov and Foreign Minister Saidov expressed confidence that strategic interstate cooperation based on unbreakable bonds of friendship and good neighborliness would continue to strengthen and successfully develop for the common good.
