President Jokowi visits vocational school in Jambi

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) lauded the vocational education implemented in Jambi City 4 Vocational High School (SMK), Jambi province, and ordered a shirt made by its students.

“I think this school is very good. The students can practice baking cakes, applying make-up, making clothes, and screen printing here,” he said, according to a statement released on Tuesday.

He informed that the facilities at the school were complete and quite adequate.

While observing the fashion class, he praised the skills of the students who had made a gown.

The President said that the design made by the students was good. He then asked the students to make him a shirt and send it to the State Palace in Jakarta.

“Please try to make some clothes for me. Let’s take my clothing measurements,” he added.

He said that if he is satisfied with the work of the students, he would perhaps make a second order.

“This is (money) for buying the materials,” Widodo said while handing the students an envelope.

He also met students majoring in culinary arts and spoke with them about their interest in setting up their own bakery. All students expressed their interest.

He also lauded the complete cooking set and the works of the students in making the cakes.

The President was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Governor of Jambi, Al Haris, as well as Mayor of Jambi, Syarif Fasha.

After visiting the vocational high school, he inspected the condition of damaged roads in Sungai Gelam, Muaro Jambi District, Jambi Province, as well as reviewed the Talang Duku Port, which is located in the same district.

Prior to visiting the school, he reviewed the prices of basic commodities at Talang Banjar Market, Jambi City.
