Shavkat Mirziyoyev holds talks with President of Singapore
Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the President of Singapore Halimah Yacob at the Kuksaroy residence on Wednesday.
The parties discussed the issues of further strengthening the political dialogue and inter-parliamentary ties, mutual support within the framework of international organizations, implementation of training programs in the field of public administration, intensification of contacts in public security and cultural humanitarian exchanges.
The sides stressed great progress in the trade, economic and investment spheres. Since the beginning of the year, mutual trade indicators have increased several times.
Singapore has become one of the largest investors in Uzbekistan. Projects worth $3.8 billion are under active implementation in the chemical and textile industries, transport and logistics, urban development and educational spheres. Such leading Singaporean companies as Indorama, Meinhardt Group, Franklin Templeton, Enercon, PSA, and Changi Airport are actively investing in projects in Uzbekistan.
The heads of state considered prospects for building up economic collaboration. Confidence was expressed that the results of the Uzbekistan-Singapore business forum will serve to expand investment cooperation with leading companies in such areas as trade, logistics, innovation, energy, and healthcare.
The issues of ensuring food security and exporting fruit and vegetable products to the Singaporean market were discussed as well.
The parties exchanged views on introducing Singaporean experience in the field of public administration and training of managerial personnel in Uzbekistan at the newly created joint educational center under the Academy of Public Administration.
The sides also considered issues of regional integration in Central and Southeast Asia.
