Chinese Premier Welcomes Global Talent, Emphasizes Open Development

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Premier Li Qiang conveyed a message of openness and welcome to talents worldwide during a meeting in Beijing on Sunday. The occasion brought together the 2023 Chinese Government Friendship Award winners and representatives of foreign experts working in China, just ahead of the Lunar New Year celebrations.

Premier Li extended New Year wishes and expressed sincere gratitude to the foreign experts for their enduring support and care for China’s development. He seized the opportunity to listen to their valuable opinions and suggestions regarding China’s ongoing development and government initiatives.

Experts from Switzerland, Germany, Brazil, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, Russia, and other countries addressed the meeting, focusing on areas such as scientific and technological innovation cooperation, green development, and personnel training.

Premier Li acknowledged the crucial role played by foreign experts in advancing China’s economic and social development and fostering people-to-people exchanges. Emphasizing China’s commitment to modernization with high-quality development, Li described the country as a dynamic land of opportunities, providing extensive space for foreign talents to contribute to their own growth.

Expressing his hope that foreign experts would deepen their involvement in China’s development, Premier Li encouraged them to showcase their talents on the significant stage of Chinese-style modernization. He highlighted their role as bridges connecting China with the rest of the world.

Premier Li assured that the Chinese government would continually refine policies, enhance facilitation of personnel exchanges, strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights, and create an improved environment for foreign talents to work and live in China.

Prior to the meeting, Chinese State Councilor Shen Yiqin presented the prestigious Friendship Award to the honorees in a ceremony held at the Great Hall of the People. The Friendship Award recognizes foreign experts who have made exceptional contributions to China’s reform and development. Fifty distinguished individuals were honored with the 2023 Chinese Government Friendship Award, symbolizing the diverse and global collaboration underpinning China’s progress.
