VinFast is Planning for Electric Car Factory in Indonesia

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita has revealed that Vietnamese electric car manufacturer VinFast is contemplating the establishment of a factory in Indonesia, with construction anticipated to commence later this year.
Minister Kartasasmita stated, “They will invest as soon as they have land,” following a meeting with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in Jakarta. Discussions are ongoing to finalize potential industrial areas for the factory, with the government considering locations in Batang, Central Java, and Karawang, West Java.
“We have offered options, but nothing is confirmed yet,” added Minister Kartasasmita, indicating that the government has shortlisted suitable areas for VinFast’s consideration.
VinFast gained attention during President Jokowi’s visit to the Indonesia International Motor Show on February 15, where the Vietnamese automaker showcased a range of right-hand-drive electric vehicles (EVs). Indonesia became the first country to receive such offerings from VinFast.
Previously, VinFast announced its intention to construct an EV factory in Indonesia with an estimated annual capacity of 50,000 cars. The proposed factory aims to generate employment opportunities and contribute to the growth of the electric vehicle industry in Indonesia.
