Kazakhstan Unveils Ambitious AI Development Project for 2024-2029
Astana, The Gulf Observer: The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan has introduced a visionary project aimed at advancing artificial intelligence (AI) development from 2024 to 2029. As outlined in the draft concept, a state-of-the-art supercomputer is anticipated to be launched by 2025, signifying a significant leap in the country’s technological capabilities.
At the core of this initiative is the establishment of a National Artificial Intelligence Platform, leveraging the Smart Data Ukimet foundation. This platform will integrate data from over 90 information systems of government agencies. By 2029, the ambitious goal is to develop at least 25 AI-based solutions utilizing this comprehensive platform.
A pivotal component of the project is the creation of a specialized training course focused on AI, offering participants the opportunity to earn a certificate upon completion. The ministry aims to have 80,000 individuals undertake this course by 2029, contributing to the development of a skilled workforce well-versed in AI technologies.
An essential facet of the concept involves the development and implementation of a national language model based on neural networks. The national language model is envisioned to facilitate the integration of the Kazakh language into various AI projects, reducing reliance on foreign services and nurturing domestic expertise. The initiative aligns with broader cultural preservation objectives, ensuring the representation of Kazakh culture and values in the digital realm and fostering the development of language models within the same linguistic group.
“The implementation of the national language model will allow the use of the Kazakh language in various artificial intelligence projects, will reduce dependence on foreign services and allow us to develop domestic expertise in this area. This will also contribute to the preservation of Kazakh culture and values in the digital environment and will give impetus to the development of language models, members of the same language group,” states the draft document.
The comprehensive AI development project underscores Kazakhstan’s commitment to embracing cutting-edge technologies, fostering a digitally skilled workforce, and preserving its cultural identity in the digital landscape. As the country gears up for significant advancements in the field of artificial intelligence, the project is poised to position Kazakhstan as a key player in the global AI landscape.
