President Xi Jinping Urges Strong Progress in New Energy for Sustainability

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has underscored the imperative to vigorously promote the high-quality development of new energy in China. During a group study session of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Thursday, President Xi emphasized the pivotal role of new energy in contributing to the creation of a clean and beautiful world.

Addressing the meeting, President Xi highlighted the profound impact of energy security on a country’s overall economic and social development. He emphasized that developing clean energy and fostering green and low-carbon transformation have gained global consensus in response to the challenges posed by climate change.

China, despite being a leader in clean power resources, still faces challenges such as significant demand pressure, supply constraints, and the demanding tasks associated with green and low-carbon transition, according to President Xi. To overcome these challenges, he advocated for the vigorous development of new energy.

With abundant resources in wind power, photovoltaics, and other renewable sources, China possesses substantial potential for the development of new energy, President Xi stated. He highlighted China’s achievement in constructing the world’s largest clean power supply system and its global competitiveness in new energy vehicles, lithium batteries, and photovoltaic products.

President Xi outlined the strategic approach to address challenges, emphasizing the need to coordinate new energy development with national energy security. The efforts should focus on tackling key technologies, enhancing the construction of a robust new energy infrastructure network, deepening global cooperation, and achieving self-reliance and self-strengthening in technology development.

The emphasis on high-quality new energy development aligns with China’s commitment to sustainable practices and environmental responsibility, contributing to both national and global efforts in combating climate change.
