Doha, The Gulf Observer: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sunday engaged in discussions with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, during a working visit to the Qatari capital.
Upon his arrival at Doha’s airport, Sheikh Abdullah was warmly received by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, marking the beginning of his official visit.
The talks between the two ministers centered on the deeply rooted fraternal relations between the UAE and Qatar, with a focus on exploring avenues to bolster bilateral cooperation across various sectors. Their deliberations aimed to reinforce the developmental trajectories of both nations, ensuring sustained prosperity and advancement for their citizens.
Acknowledging the remarkable progress achieved by both countries across diverse fields, Sheikh Abdullah underscored the robustness of the UAE-Qatar relations and the shared commitment to fortifying cooperation in pursuit of common interests and developmental objectives.
In addition to bilateral matters, the ministers deliberated on the latest developments in the Middle East region, particularly concerning the Gaza Strip. They emphasized the urgent need for a sustainable ceasefire and intensified international efforts to address the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, emphasizing the significance of providing ample humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.
Highlighting the recent ministerial meeting on the maritime corridor initiative for Gaza, the ministers stressed the importance of establishing humanitarian corridors to facilitate the unhindered transportation of aid to Gaza’s civilian population.
Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the criticality of enhanced cooperation and multilateral efforts to counter extremism, alleviate tension, and promote peace and stability in the region. He underscored the urgency of prioritizing the safety of civilians and strengthening humanitarian responses to address the pressing needs of the Palestinian people.
Expressing gratitude for Qatar’s continuous efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza, Sheikh Abdullah reiterated the imperative of pursuing a serious political framework to resume negotiations, with a focus on achieving comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar hosted an Iftar banquet in honor of Sheikh Abdullah and his delegation, signifying the warmth and camaraderie characterizing the bilateral relations.
The meeting was attended by prominent officials including Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, UAE Ambassador to Qatar; and Omran Sharaf, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Advanced Sciences and Technology.
Following the productive discussions, Sheikh Abdullah bid farewell to Doha, concluding his working visit, and was seen off at the airport by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar.
