President of Turkmenistan Holds Meetings with Distinguished Figures in Ashgabat

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan convened a series of significant meetings on Wednesday, hosting prominent figures at the presidential palace in Ashgabat. Among the esteemed guests were Husrev Noziri, the Secretary-General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO); Zurab Pololikashvili, the Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO); Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States; and David Haggerty, the head of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), accompanied by Yuri Polsky, President of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF), as reported by Turkmenistan’s official media.
Highlights of the Meetings:
Meeting with ECO Secretary-General: Both sides expressed keen interest in exploring the multifaceted relations between Turkmenistan and the Economic Cooperation Organization. Turkmenistan reaffirmed its readiness to diversify natural gas supplies and invited the ECO to actively engage in harnessing the country’s transit potential.
Discussion with UNWTO Secretary-General: President Berdimuhamedov emphasized the untapped potential for cooperation with the UNWTO and advocated for more effective bilateral relations in line with Turkmenistan’s current circumstances.
Dialogue with Turkic States Secretary-General: Talks focused on the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Pyragy in Turkmenistan, with President Berdimuhamedov expressing support for enhanced cooperation and participation of the Organization of Turkic States in the commemorative events.
Meeting with ITF and ATF Presidents: President Berdimuhamedov was presented with a certificate from the International Tennis Federation during discussions with David Haggerty and Yuri Polsky. The President pledged support for initiatives aimed at furthering the development of tennis in Turkmenistan and globally.
The meetings coincided with the arrival of the UNWTO Secretary-General and the ECO Secretary-General in Ashgabat to participate in the international conference “Key Directions and Potential of Tourism Development in Turkmenistan.”
These engagements underscore Turkmenistan’s commitment to fostering cooperation and advancing partnerships across various sectors for mutual benefit and regional development.
