Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Wins Ceremonial Horse Race at New Ahal-Teke Complex

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in a ceremonial horse race held as part of the opening celebrations of the Ahal-Teke Horse Complex of the President of Turkmenistan, the country’s official media reported.

The race brought together skilled riders representing all regions of Turkmenistan, as well as the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag.

During the event, it was announced that the horse Daghan, representing the city of Arkadag, had been trained by young horse trainer Kerimguly Berdimuhamedov and was ridden by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Daghan, ridden by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, secured first place in the ceremonial race. The horse Şohratly, ridden by T. Pirmyradov of Ashgabat, finished second, while Azamat, ridden by H. Ashyrov of Ahal province, took third place.

As prizes for their achievements, T. Pirmyradov, who finished second, received a Toyota Fortuner, while H. Ashyrov, who came third, was awarded a Toyota Camry.

The grand prize, a Range Rover Sport, was presented by decision of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, together with an honorary gift, to the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan. The prize was designated for the military unit where Sergeant Kerimguly Berdimuhamedov serves.

The ceremonial horse race was held as part of the celebrations at the 1,200-seat Ahal-Teke Horse Complex of the President of Turkmenistan, which was inaugurated on September 29.

The opening of the complex formed part of events marking the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence and further highlighted the country’s longstanding national traditions and cultural heritage associated with the Ahal-Teke horse.
