Kazakhstan Listed Among Top 24 Destinations to Visit in 2024
Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakhstan has been recognized as one of the top 24 places to visit in 2024, as announced by the Kazakh Tourism and Sports Ministry. This accolade underscores the country’s growing appeal as a premier travel destination.
Almaty, one of Kazakhstan’s major cities, has been highlighted in the New York Times’ list of “52 Places to Go in 2024.” Additionally, Wanderlust magazine has included Kazakhstan among its Top 24 places to visit in the coming year. Condé Nast Traveler Italia has further positioned Kazakhstan in its Top 5 skiing destinations worldwide.
In a significant achievement for rural tourism, the World Tourism Organization named the village of Saty in Kazakhstan the best tourism village of 2023. Furthermore, at the Versatile Excellence Travel Awards ceremony, Travelscapes rated Kazakhstan as a popular destination for tourists from India and the UAE. The promotional video “Kazakhstan – Like Never Before” garnered two prizes at the ART&TUR Film Festival in Portugal.
According to data from the Kazakh Tourism and Sports Ministry, Kazakhstan has seen a remarkable increase in international tourist arrivals. The number of Chinese tourists visiting Kazakhstan surged 20-fold, from 17,700 in 2022 to 367,400 in 2023. Indian tourist arrivals tripled from 28,300 in 2022 to 78,000 in 2023. Similarly, the number of South Korean visitors increased 2.5 times, from 15,800 in 2022 to 35,600 in 2023. Qatar saw a doubling of its travelers to Kazakhstan, from 500 in 2022 to 1,000 in 2023. German tourist arrivals grew by 50%, from 57,000 in 2022 to 85,000 in 2023, while visitors from the UAE also increased by 50%, from 6,500 to 10,500.
These accolades and rising visitor numbers reflect Kazakhstan’s successful efforts to enhance its tourism infrastructure and promote its unique cultural and natural attractions to a global audience.
