Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Higher Committee for COP28 UAE, presided over a meeting to discuss the implementation of the UAE Consensus, ensuring the fulfillment of commitments and pledges made during COP28, and maintaining the momentum to uphold the UAE’s climate leadership legacy.

Addressing the members during the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed emphasized the historic nature of COP28, highlighting the groundbreaking achievements through the UAE Consensus and the Action Agenda, which provided actionable solutions to address climate change. Sheikh Abdullah stressed the importance of translating the promises made during COP28 into tangible actions to continue the positive impact.

“When the UAE took on the Presidency of COP28, our goal was clear; we wanted to host a COP that was game-changing, inspirational, and transformative. We aimed to fulfill past commitments and set new ambitions, achieving this through building trust and the UAE’s dedication. There is no doubt that the COP28 Presidency did this and showed the world that the UAE is a place where people can come together and unite around a common goal,” said His Highness.

Sheikh Abdullah commended the legacy of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in environmental conservation, which inspired the vision of COP28. He expressed gratitude to all participants from federal, national, and private sectors for their contributions and positive cooperation during the conference.

Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, the UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Deputy Chairman of the Committee, and President of COP28, highlighted the historic success of COP28 as a result of the UAE leadership’s forward-looking vision and commitment to a sustainable future. He thanked H.H. Sheikh Abdullah for his guidance and diligence, underscoring that COP28’s success reflected the leadership’s unwavering commitment to sustainability, the exceptional efforts of the Higher Committee members, and the collaborative contribution of the entire nation.
