Azerbaijan, UAE Parliamentary Leaders Discuss Strengthening Interparliamentary Cooperation

Baku, The Gulf Observer: As part of her working visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, met with Tariq Humaid Al Tayer, Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates, to discuss the further development of interparliamentary cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides underscored the successful and dynamic development of relations between Azerbaijan and the UAE, noting that bilateral ties have been elevated to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership across all areas under the guidance of the two countries’ leaders. They also highlighted the important role and contributions of the parliaments in strengthening and advancing this partnership.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova emphasized the importance of reciprocal visits and the continued development of parliamentary ties in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two legislative bodies. Both sides praised the excellent cooperation within international parliamentary organizations, including the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA).

The Azerbaijani Speaker expressed her gratitude to the UAE parliamentary delegation for its support during Azerbaijan’s two-year chairmanship of the APA, noting that the Assembly serves as an effective platform for expanding interparliamentary relations and enhancing dialogue.

The meeting concluded with mutual confidence that cooperation between the parliaments of Azerbaijan and the UAE will continue to develop successfully on the basis of trust, partnership, and shared interests.
