Baku, The Gulf Observer: Elnur Soltanov, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Energy and Chief Executive Officer of COP29 Azerbaijan, met on Friday with Peter Michalko, Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Azerbaijan, to discuss Azerbaijan-EU cooperation and collaboration within the COP29 framework, according to media reports.

During the meeting, discussions focused on strengthening Azerbaijan-EU cooperation and aligning efforts for the upcoming COP29 conference. Soltanov provided the EU Ambassador with insights into the ongoing negotiation processes and the activity agenda for COP29. Both parties emphasized the significance of constructive participation from all stakeholders, including the EU, to ensure successful negotiations, highlighting outcomes from the recent UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn.

Ambassador Michalko expressed optimism about Azerbaijan’s role as the host of COP29 and its contributions to the global fight against climate change. He conveyed confidence that Azerbaijan would achieve significant milestones at the conference. The discussions also covered the organization of COP29-related events throughout the year, aimed at facilitating the successful implementation of COP29 goals.
