Saint Petersburg, The Gulf Observer: A meeting of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is set to take place in Saint Petersburg, bringing together parliamentary leaders from across the region.
Uzbekistan will be represented by a delegation led by Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis. The delegation will participate in the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly’s spring session, which features a packed agenda of regional cooperation, legislative exchange, and commemorative events.
Among the key topics to be discussed are the outcomes of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, recently held in Tashkent, as well as the findings of election observation missions carried out by CIS Interparliamentary Assembly observers.
Delegates will also review the activities of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in 2024 and finalize preparations for upcoming international summits.
A highlight of the gathering will be a ceremonial session marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II, a moment of shared historical reflection among member states.
The session in Saint Petersburg reaffirms the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly’s role in fostering dialogue, cooperation, and unity among the legislative bodies of post-Soviet nations.
