President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, laid flowers in front of the Ghalib Asgar monument

Baku, The Gulf Observer: On July 20, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, got acquainted with the major repair and reconstruction works carried out in the Alley of Martyrs in Sumgait.

AZERTAC reports that the head of our state first laid flowers in front of the Ghalib Asgar monument erected in the Alley of Martyrs and the monument dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Khojaly tragedy.

Zakir Farajov, the head of Sumgayit City Executive Authority, informed President Ilham Aliyev about the work done in the Alley of Martyrs.

It was reported that the Alley of Martyrs, built in 1992 in the city of Sumgayit, where 513 martyrs slept, was fundamentally renovated in 2021, and complex reconstruction works were carried out here. A new flagpole with a height of 30 meters has been installed in the Alley of Martyrs.

It was noted that the area of ​​Shahidler Alley was expanded to 1.2 hectares. A green cover was laid in Shahidlar Alley, the lighting system was modernized, and a fountain complex was built. Here, within the framework of the reconstruction works, the “Victory Tree” monument was created in memory of the martyrs of the Patriotic War, and an administrative building was also built.

A monument containing information about 144 people who went missing during the First Karabakh War was erected in the Alley of Martyrs.
