Bahrain Joins 'International Humanitarian Appeal to Support Gaza' Conference

Cairo, The Gulf Observer: Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed, Secretary-General of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), has participated in the “International Humanitarian Appeal to Support Gaza” conference, organised by the Egyptian Red Crescent Society (ERC), and opened by Nevin Al Kabbaj, Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, ERC Vice-Chairperson.

Ministers, ambassadors, and leaders of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, in addition to representatives of UN agencies and NGOs and humanitarian work partners, attended ERC conference.

Addressing the conference, Dr. Al Sayed said that the RHF is participating in the event to showcase its solidarity with the Palestinian people, and discuss the best means to deliver humanitarian aid to them amid the ongoing war in the enclave, and its humanitarian and social impacts on the local residents.

The RHF Secretary-General asserted that the kingdom had been among the first countries to deliver humanitarian assistance to the Palestinians in Gaza, thanks to the sound strategies adopted by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, as well as the “Humanitarian Work Leader”, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs.

He added that Bahrain was among the first countries that had responded to the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, by dispatching two urgent relief aid air shipments to the El Arish Airport, in addition to four land consignments, in cooperation with ERC.

He added that Bahrain had also signed agreements with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) to build a field hospital in Gaza, as well as a residential complex, and a school similar to the Bahrain Residential Complex and the Bahrain Scientific Complex in the Zaatari camp.

He pointed out that Bahrain’s efforts to support Gazans focus on two aspects, namely delivering urgent relief aid, and implementing development projects, stressing that this strategy adopted by the RHF has had a great humanitarian impact on the RHF-supported countries.

He indicated that Bahrain will contribute to the reconstruction of Gaza, as it had fulfilled its previous pledges and launched many development projects in the Strip.

Dr. Fawzi Amin, the representative of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, also participated in the conference.

He highlighted Bahrain’s distinguished role in delivering assistance to those who need it in Bahrain and abroad, noting that the RHF and the relevant societies work as a united team to provide humanitarian aid.
