Brunei Ocean Shootout 2025 Makes Waves with Underwater Photography and Marine Conservation Focus

Bandar Seri Begawan, The Gulf Observer: Brunei’s vibrant marine ecosystem takes center stage this month with the launch of the Brunei Ocean Shootout (BOSH) 2025, a premier underwater photography and videography competition spotlighting the Sultanate’s rich underwater heritage.
Organised by Ocean Week Brunei in collaboration with Brunei Tourism and the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, the event aims to both nurture the creative arts sector and raise awareness for marine conservation through a series of workshops and competitions, offering over BND 5,000 in prizes.
The competition kicks off today and runs in two phases:
Phase One (Until May 12): Led by Ram Yoro, award-winning underwater photographer and technical diver, and Alex Santos, a pioneer in Asia’s technical diving industry.
Phase Two (May 28 – June 8): Headed by Singaporean underwater photography veterans Zul Ng and Pauline Wong.
Local and international participants can submit their underwater photo and video entries until June 3. Top works will be featured at the Brunei Ocean Exhibition from June 6 to 8, celebrating the beauty and biodiversity of Brunei’s marine world.
The organisers are encouraging local businesses to get involved by sponsoring prizes and supporting efforts in marine conservation, sustainable diving, and creative education.
