Chinese, Vietnamese foreign ministers discuss bilateral ties
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang and Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son held a phone conversation on Tuesday with the two sides calling for efforts to promote bilateral ties to new level.
They agreed to take the 15th anniversary of the establishment of China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership as an opportunity to strengthen strategic communication, consolidate political mutual trust, and close contacts at all levels and in all fields.
Noting China and Vietnam are “brothers and comrades,” Qin said the Chinese side appreciates that the Vietnamese side has seen its relations with China as a top priority in its foreign policy.
China also views and develops China-Vietnam relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, Qin told his Vietnamese counterpart, adding China is willing to work with the Vietnam to implement the strategic consensus of the top leaders of the two parties, strengthen the top-level design of practical cooperation, and deepen the synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative and the “Two Corridors and One Economic Circle” plan.
The Chinese foreign minister also urged the two sides to continue to support each other on issues related to each other’s core interests and major concerns, practice genuine multilateralism, and jointly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries.
Son extended congratulations on the success of China’s Two Sessions, stressing the Vietnamese side has always supported China’s development and appreciated China’s positive contribution to regional and world peace, stability and prosperity.
Developing good-neighborly relations and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China is Vietnam’s strategic choice and top priority, he told Qin.
The Vietnamese foreign minister called on the two sides to jointly promote the traditional friendship, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, and transform the strategic consensus reached by the top leaders of the two parties into more concrete results.
