Erdogan Condemns Global Inaction Over Israeli Actions in Gaza

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has drawn attention to escalating issues and pressures within the international system, particularly in the context of Israel’s ongoing attacks on Gaza.

“World politics is navigating one of its sharpest turns. There is a serious power vacuum in the international system, and we are facing a loss of morality and conscience,” President Erdogan stated in a speech delivered on Monday in Ankara, the nation’s capital.

Addressing the Gaza crisis, Erdogan remarked, “With the Gaza crisis, the global system has become bankrupt.” He criticized the United Nations Security Council for its inaction in the face of oppression in Gaza, “which should normally awaken humanity.”

In a bold statement, Erdogan compared Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Adolf Hitler, asserting that those who “applaud” Netanyahu’s actions will “never be able to wash off dark stains on their hands for the rest of their lives.”

Erdogan further declared that perpetrators of genocide “should not be at podiums of legislative chambers,” but rather in courtrooms where they will be held accountable for their crimes.

The Turkish President also addressed the perceived double standards of social media platforms. He condemned what he described as “digital fascism that cannot even tolerate photos of Palestinian martyrs and bans them instantly, yet markets this as freedom.”

“Social media platforms show great care in adhering to the rules in the US and Europe, but deliberately withhold the same diligence when it comes to Türkiye,” Erdogan stated. His criticism followed the Turkish Information and Communication Technologies Authority (TKM)’s decision to block access to Instagram.

Erdogan’s remarks underscore Türkiye’s stance on the Gaza conflict and its broader concerns about the international community’s response to crises and the role of digital platforms in shaping public perception.
