Hari Raya Gathering Strengthens Community Bonds at Welfare Home Complex

Bandar Seri Begawan, The Gulf Observer: Residents of the Welfare Home Complex under the Community Development Department (JAPEM) came together yesterday for a joyful Hari Raya celebration at An-Naura Hall, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex.
The festive event was jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and the Ministry of Development (MoD), aimed at fostering closer ties between the ministries and the welfare home community.
The gathering provided an opportunity to highlight the talents and creativity of the residents, who took part in musical performances alongside officers and staff from both ministries. The occasion not only celebrated Hari Raya but also served as a platform to boost the residents’ self-confidence through active participation and artistic expression.
Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad graced the event as guests of honour. They also presented donations to residents of the Welfare Home Complex, further underscoring the spirit of giving and compassion central to Hari Raya celebrations.
Also in attendance were permanent secretaries and deputy permanent secretaries from both ministries, departmental heads, commissioners from the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC), and Acting Director of JAPEM, Fauziah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, who chaired the event.
The gathering reflected a shared commitment to inclusivity, social care, and community engagement in line with the government’s ongoing efforts to support the welfare and development of vulnerable groups.
