Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: The Indonesian government has officially launched the Presidential Future Leaders Program (PFLP), an initiative aimed at preparing a new generation of leaders for state-owned enterprises (SOEs), according to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

“The program was designed directly by the President to prepare future leaders of state-owned enterprises,” Teddy said in an official statement.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto personally addressed 400 participants selected for the first batch of the program during a briefing session held in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Sunday.

The initiative is part of President Prabowo’s broader vision to strengthen governance within Indonesia’s SOEs through enhanced human resource development and leadership training.

According to officials, the nine-month program is divided into three major phases. The first phase will focus on character-building and discipline training over a period of three months.

The second phase will involve four months of managerial, leadership, and decision-making training conducted at Danantara Corporate University.

In the final phase, participants will undertake two-month internships at ministries, government agencies, or state-owned enterprises to gain practical experience in public administration and corporate governance.

The program is also intended to support the government’s wider strategy of building professional and capable SOE leadership amid increasingly complex global economic and governance challenges.

Earlier, head of the SOE Management Agency (BP BUMN) Dony Oskaria said that 400 participants had been selected from more than 700 applicants for the inaugural batch of the program.

Dony noted that the initiative aligns with the government’s SOE transformation agenda, which includes consolidation, restructuring, divestment, and the dissolution of underperforming state-run companies.

He added that sustainable SOE reform requires competent professionals capable of strengthening transparency, accountability, and effective management of state assets.
