Iran and Saudi Arabia Discuss Economic Cooperation at AlUla Conference

AlUla, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Economy Minister Abdolnaser Hemmati and his Saudi counterpart Mohammed Aljadaan met on Sunday evening to discuss expanding economic cooperation between their countries. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Conference for Emerging Market Economies, held in AlUla on February 16-17.
During their discussions, Hemmati and Aljadaan underscored the importance of enhancing trade and customs cooperation, facilitating bilateral investments, and eliminating double taxation. Additionally, they emphasized the need to streamline financial processes related to Iranian Hajj pilgrims.
Minister Hemmati traveled to Saudi Arabia on Saturday to participate in the AlUla Conference, which is co-organized by the Saudi Finance Ministry and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Iran and Saudi Arabia restored diplomatic relations in March 2023 under a China-brokered agreement, ending a seven-year period of estrangement. Since then, both nations have worked toward strengthening their ties across multiple sectors, including politics, economy, and culture.
