Temburong, The Gulf Observer: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, graced the Passing Out Parade Ceremony for the 13th intake of the National Service Programme (PKBN) at the National Service Training Camp in Batu Apoi, Temburong District, on Monday.

On arrival, His Majesty was welcomed by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Acting Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force Dato Seri Pahlawan Sulaiman bin Alidin, and Permanent Secretary (Youth) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin.

The ceremony commenced with His Majesty receiving the royal salute, followed by an inspection of the guard of honour and a march past by 367 PKBN trainees, comprising 253 male and 114 female participants.

His Majesty then delivered a titah and presented awards to six outstanding trainees. Muhammad Shahroni bin Haji Md Kanderishah and Noor Syafiqah Fazlyiah binti Muhammad Redzuan were recognized as best male and female in the drill category, while Muhammad Fakhruddin bin Abdullah and Amira Farzana binti Mohammad Johardi received accolades as best male and female in the physical training category. The overall best trainees were Mohd Alif Khan bin Othmawee (male) and Annisha Suraya binti Razali (female).

The event concluded with the trainees chanting ‘Daulat Kebawah Duli Tuan Patik’ three times, followed by a Doa Selamat. As the parade drew to a close, the National Anthem of Brunei Darussalam was played, and the Graduation Parade marched past before exiting the parade ground.

Following the ceremony, His Majesty toured an exhibition of the ‘Train-the-Trainers’ Programme Series 01 at the Lobby of Block 1, which showcased 15 PKBN alumni. His Majesty later engaged in a meet-and-greet session with the Best Trainees of the 13th intake and signed the Commemorative Book.

Before departing, His Majesty participated in a group photo session with the trainees and received a commemorative gift at the Lecture Hall, Block 4. His Majesty’s presence at the event underscored his unwavering support for the development of Brunei’s youth, particularly the PKBN trainees.

The programme aims to instill patriotism, national pride, and religious devotion among young Bruneians. Since its inception, PKBN has produced 4,552 alumni, including the 13th intake, which commenced on November 17, 2024, and will conclude on February 27, 2025. Training was conducted under the guidance of officers and instructors from various national agencies, including the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, the Royal Brunei Police Force, and other professional trainers.

The presence of esteemed officials, including Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, Members of the Legislative Council, and senior military and police personnel, highlighted the importance of PKBN in shaping disciplined, independent, and well-rounded individuals committed to serving the nation.
