Iran Boosts Gas Output at South Pars Field with Launch of Fourth Infill Well

Iran Boosts Gas Output at South Pars Field with Launch of Fourth Infill Well

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran has brought a fourth infill well into operation at the giant South Pars gas field, increasing gas output from the shared offshore reservoir by 1.8 million cubic meters per day, a senior project official announced.

Shobeir Nabavi, Director of the South Pars Infill Drilling Project, said the newly completed well is located in Phase 19, near the maritime border with Qatar, and was drilled to a depth of nearly 4,000 meters.

He noted that with the completion of this latest project, four infill wells have been brought into full operation over the past eight months, collectively boosting production by approximately seven million cubic meters per day.

Nabavi further stated that plans are underway to drill and commission at least four additional wells by the end of the Iranian calendar year in March 2026, which would further enhance output from the strategically important field.

The South Pars gas field, jointly shared by Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf, is the world’s largest natural gas field and a cornerstone of Iran’s energy production and export strategy.
