Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has paid tribute to Martyr Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, highlighting his role in advancing the resistance school of thought on battlefields across the region.

Speaking at a ceremony held on Sunday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to mark the fifth anniversary of Soleimani’s martyrdom, Araghchi praised the late general for founding an “indestructible” regional movement. The event was also attended by Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy.

During his address, Araghchi underscored that the Axis of Resistance is a cause that transcends any single individual, asserting that its mission remains steadfast despite the loss of key commanders. He emphasized that the concept of martyrdom is a fundamental pillar of the Axis and a source of enduring strength.

Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, who commanded the IRGC’s Quds Force, was assassinated in a U.S. drone strike near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020, alongside Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy chief of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units, and their companions. The attack was authorized by then-U.S. President Donald Trump.

Araghchi’s remarks reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to Soleimani’s legacy and the broader goals of the Axis of Resistance, which continues to influence the region’s geopolitical landscape.
