Iran-Syria joint economic commission begins in Tehran

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: The joint economic commission meeting between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Syria has gotten underway in Tehran, signaling a promising era of strengthened ties and enhanced economic cooperation.

The meeting, which commenced on Wednesday with ministers from both sides in attendance, holds the potential to alleviate economic challenges faced by the Syrian people while propelling the relationship between the two nations to new heights.

A high-ranking Syrian economic delegation is in Tehran to participate in the meeting.

The economic commission will focus on cooperation agreements that were signed during President Ebrahim Raisi’s official visit to Syria in May.

The memoranda of understanding (MoUs) inked during President Raisi’s visit to Syria span a wide array of sectors, including energy, agriculture, free zones, and communication, among others. The visit also paved the way for the launch of strategic projects in oil and gas sector and transportation.

The ongoing joint economic session serves as a platform for addressing shared concerns and advancing the implementation of these agreements.
