Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan Reviews EAD’s Strategic Initiatives for 2025

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), has commended the agency’s achievements in 2024 and reviewed its strategic projects for 2025. These initiatives are aimed at enhancing community well-being and improving the quality of life in Abu Dhabi. The agency’s efforts align with the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who has declared 2025 as the Year of Community.
During a Board of Directors meeting at Al Nakheel Palace, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the EAD Strategy 2026-2030, which focuses on mitigating climate change risks, managing natural resources sustainably, and positioning Abu Dhabi as a global hub for environmental knowledge.
He emphasized the agency’s role in fostering a culture of sustainability among the youth, ensuring biodiversity protection, improving air and water quality, and strengthening natural resource management. The EAD’s efforts reaffirm its status as the Middle East’s leading environmental regulatory body.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, and other prominent figures. The agency presented various initiatives such as mangrove planting, coral reef restoration, marine pollution response, and the use of nanobubble technology to enhance seawater quality.
Additionally, the agency introduced an odour monitoring network to identify pollution sources and launched environmental awareness programs, including the Connect with Nature initiative, which has engaged 2.5 million young participants. The Sustainable Schools Initiative, which now includes over 560 schools in Abu Dhabi, was also highlighted as part of efforts to cultivate future environmental leaders.
These strategic initiatives reflect Abu Dhabi’s commitment to sustainable development while ensuring environmental conservation remains a priority.
